I've just discovered that CCP will also work on getting faint scratches out from sapphire crystals. A light polish with a cape clod cloth will remove way less material than machine polishing car paintwork, which is very little at all. I'd not worry at all about going over the centre links with a cape cod cloth two or three times a year.

I've read some PAM enthusiasts wear by cape cod, but they seem to be divided whether it should be used on a brushed surface. The 164 has a brushed case and polished bezel, so I'm worried about trying the cape cod on the bezel and ruining the case. u/tonyxcom is completely correct - Cape Cod cloths are for polishing metal, NOT for brushed metal. If you use the Cape Cod on a brushed finish - correctly - you will polish it shiny. And it DOES take metal off, all polishers do that. I've seen so many posts about the benefits of Cape Cod polishing cloths that state they are great for polishing out very small scratches or swirls in highly polished stainless steel and other metals. I finally decided to try a pack of them.
Cape Cod does work as a DIY but I take all mine to a trusted watch repair shop that I know 100% polishes high end watches and can be trusted. Price has gone down as I’ve seen them more and more over the years. Same thing as you with my watches/cars. I want them clean and pretty.
