notice how their emitters look nearly identical to many CREE models. its likely soon that most non-established branded budget lights we get will likely have these off-brand fake-Cree LEDs instead of real CREE manufactured genuine emitters. I recently purchased two BINWO flashlights off Amazon, which claim to have Cree XM-L2 built in. The light seems kind of purple-ish to me, especially at the edges, and I wasn't that overwhelmed by the brightness, although using a Panasonic 18650.

It's probably too cheap for 10 leds, but, damn, there's "cree" written everywhere, and even on the light itself. What a crappy situation for the market.

GearBest shipped a number of fake Convoy S2+ flashlights to CPF members recently. Two reliable sellers are Shenzhen Convoy Electronics Co., Ltd., the maker of Convoy flashlights, and Mountain Electronics.
Hello everyone, I bought some CREE LEDs on eBay (just the bulbs on a PCB, no driver) and I’d like other people’s opinion as to whether they’re genuine. I bought a few models but so far, after two months only 2 out of 6 . Ordered a new flashlight but am unsure the LED is actually real. It is supposed to be the Cree Xlamp XHP70.2. Can anyone confirm this led is real/fake. Hi :) I bought a Cree XML T6 (10W 3.3V 3A) from a Chinese ebay seller. The problem is, I cannot get more that ~0.85A-1A of current on it. I tried driving.
I want to show you a zoomable flashlight that I had ordered from a famous site. The seller promised it will be with a CREE XM-L2, but he sent me a flashlight.

I'm not sure what you're asking about being "fake", but no, they're not real . notice how their emitters look nearly identical to many CREE models. its likely soon that most non-established branded budget lights we get will likely have these off-brand fake-Cree LEDs instead of real CREE manufactured genuine emitters.
