I received my Explorer 40MM today, after expressing interest less than 8 weeks ago. No purchase history either. I was polite, consistent, and enthusiastic - as I would be for any high-value purchase (like buying a house, for example). Initial impressions are good. My 40mm Explorer has arrived! Here is the new 40mm Explorer ref. 224270 This is the Explorer I’ve been waiting for. perfect for my wrist (~7 inches) and as nicely proportioned as the 124270, which I owned, but could never warm up to the size. My experience buying a Rolex Explorer 40mm. I registered in early July at an authorized dealer for a Rolex Datejust, smooth bezel, jubilee bracelet. I didn't hear anything for a month or so. I was encouraged to sign up for this before being able to access the explorer.
I visited a local AD and tried on both the 36 and 40 mm options and was leaning towards the 40mm. It just seemed to feel right on my wrist. I know the 36 is the historical choice and is the natural form factor however and I don’t take that lightly.The Explorer 40 is powered by calibre 3230 which is also found in many time-only Rolex is strangely losing 15 seconds a day which could be due to breaking in but is never an issue for Tudor watches. Also like most Rolexes today, it has more or less a power reserve of 70 hours. A 5mm extension can be had on this bracelet to accommodate wrist .
